JOLED, the joint venture company established by Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), Japan Display (JDI), Sony, and Panasonic last summer, has now been officially established and started operating.
The new company was formed last August with the aim of producing small and medium sized OLED displays (JOLED Inc – the Japanese Answer for AMOLED). INCJ is the majority stake holder in JOLED with a 75% share of the business, followed by JDI with 15% and Sony and Panasonic each holding 5%.
The company is expected to start trial production in the second half of 2016, focusing on 10″ – 20″ OLED panels for tablets and notebooks, with the aim of beginning mass production in the second half of 2017.
