JCDecaux has won a 20-year contract for advertising in 1,500 bus and tram shelters in Helsinki. As part of the contract, JCDecaux Finland will install 250 digital screens in Helsinki bus and tram shelters, paving the way to create the first national DOOH network in Finland. It will cover up to 32 cities where JCDecaux currently operates advertising street furniture, reaching 60% of the Finnish population.
Other DOOH assets operated by JCDecaux Finland include the Metro with the brand new Lansimetro line, which opens in September 2017.
Jean-François Decaux, chairman and co-CEO of JCDecaux said that the company’s traditional panels will now reach over 67% of the Finnish population. With only 4% market share of the media market in Finland, outdoor advertising needs this kind of investment to grow its share, which is still below the European average.
JCDecaux SA was also declared the successful bidder following the tender for a 10-year advertising concession for the three main lines of the Sao Paulo metro in Brazil.
The blue, green and red lines of the Sao Paulo metro, carry around 4.4 million passengers every day across six lines, and covers 52 of the network’s 61 stations.
After 15 years of working with multiple concession holders, the Sao Paulo metro decided to award the traditional and digital advertising operation to a single provider, which will be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining and managing the media in the metro’s stations, tunnels and carriages.
The signing of the contract is planned to be completed in Q3 2017.
