JCDecaux said in its financial results that although Billboard sales were down 4.2% year on year, partly because of a smaller contribution from digital media, overall digital revenue increased by 35.3% on an organic basis and now accounts for 16.6% of total revenues. 70% of that revenue is coming from just four countries – the UK, US, China and Germany. In street furniture, North America was down (excluding New York City) due to the lack, the firm said, of digital street furniture in Boston, Chicago ), Greater Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver.
The company said in December, that it would be able to start with digital in Chicago in 2018. The new digital network in the city will consist of 86″ LCD screens with UltraHD resolution including 118 digital City Information Panels, as well as 32 digital screens on Rapid Transit Bus Shelters.
Overall, the company said that its 2017 revenue was €3.47 billion, up 2.3% on last year, but representing 3.2% organic growth. Q4 revenue was €1.018 billion.
