Japan Display to Increase Automotive LCD Production

Japan Display has announced that it will increase LCD glass panel production capacity at its Tottori Plant from November 2017.

This month, the company is building a new automated assembly line for prototypes and process development of advanced LCD modules. According to market reports, the automotive display market is expected to grow at a rate of approximately 10% per year, primarily due to the increasing number of displays installed per vehicle. To meet this demand, Japan Display is striving to increase its automotive market share and is aiming to reach a sales target in 2021 of approximately three times of the sales in fiscal 2016.

To meet this target, Japan Display will expand output from its Tottori Plant by 12%. Also, by establishing a new LCD glass panel fabrication automated module assembly line within the same premises, the company will be able to react quickly to diverse demands from customers.
