Italy-led action shutters 5,500 pirate sites

What They Say

Advanced TV reported that the Italian Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) has led to the closure of over 5,500 illegal live streaming sites and more than 350 Telegram channels. The network covered 12 countries and 100 house searches were carried out. 334 Paypal accounts were seized and €10.6 million in cash.

The report said that there were 50 million illegal users worldwide viewing streams created from copyright-protected signals.

What We Think

As someone that has access to more legal TV than I can think about watching, I’m always amazed at the scale of video piracy. In this case, the streams were mainly of football matches and sports events. (BR)
