Is Samsung Moving Away From Qualcomm With S6?

The first rumours of the Galaxy S6 have begun to appear. According to Sammobile, the phone is code-named Project Zero.

While the screen size has not been leaked, the display resolution will apparently be 2560 x 1440. The source says that Samsung is still deciding between a 16MP and 20MP camera, though feels that a 16MP unit is more likely.

There will be 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models. The processor will be a Samsung-developed Exynos 7420; this will be a 64-bit octa-core chip, with four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores. The LTE modem (SS333) will also be developed in-house, possibly replacing the Intel modem used on Samsung’s Exynos 5430 and 5433. A variant on the above will be developed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip: specifically the 64-bit Snapdragon 810. RAM is expected to be 3GB.

A Broadcom device (BCM4473) will also be used; it combines several sensors onto a single chip, saving battery power.
