Caixin in China reported that iQiyi Smart, the VR-centred arm of iQiyi Inc, which Caixin describes as an ‘online video giant’ (Wikipedia reports that it has 500 million active monthly users and was founded by Baidu) has raised ‘several hundreds of millions of yuan in its series B round’ to develop VR hardware and software. Caixin quoted a financial analyst in the group as saying that the focus would be games and that the firm wants to
“develop and roll out a VR product that’s better than (Facebook’s) Quest2 (VR headset)”
