Around 2.3 billion WiFi-connected devices were shipped worldwide last year, says Taiwan’s MIC, driven by smartphone and Internet of Things (IoT) demand. The figure was an 18% YoY rise.
All sectors of the computing industry are considering the possibility of adding new IoT modules and solutions to their products, says MIC’s Remus Hsu. Based on this, the firm predicts that 3.75 billion WiFi device will be shipped in 2019, with a CAGR of 10.4% from 2014.
