We promised to come back to you over the Low Power Display Technology (LPDT) that Intel announced at Computex when we had more information (Intel Reveals Low-Power Display Technology for Laptops). At the moment, we haven’t been able to get much with our good contacts at Intel only able to confirm that the development is an ‘evolution not a revolution’. That put paid to some of our speculation about new driving schemes or other serious technology changes.
Analyst Comment
We’ll continue to try to dig the background to this out, but the technology could just be a particularly efficient optical stack and perhaps exploiting the display driving to use adaptive frame rates with eDP to minimise power consumption. (BR)
