What They Say
MicroLED Info published an article by IdeaFarm LLC highlighting the advantages of MicroLEDs when you want to include an under-display camera. IdeaFarm claims some unique patented technology in the area.
What We Think
I like the phrase ‘sparse matrix’ to describe the advantage of displays where most of the area is not display. Under-display cameras are likely to migrate into monitors and desktops. (As an aside, I was really surprised to see a presentation at SID, where the presenter clearly needed a better monitor, so spent most of the presentation looking closely at his screen, and I mostly saw the top of his head!).
I’ve said many times over the years that a critical part of the success of the iPhone was the inclusion of lots of sensors. Sparse matrix displays can add to the sensors on a monitor or notebook. I’ll spare you one of my rants about gaze on notebooks and monitors, but ‘If you know where I’m looking, you know what I’m interested in’. (BR)
