Innolux president JC Wang has told Asian media that UltraHD TV shipments will reach 30 million this year. Panel pricing has fallen to between 10% and 20% higher than TVs with 1920 x 1080, helping to drive sales.
UltraHD TV shipments passed 2.3 million in September, Wang said. Innolux reached almost 30% penetration in the 50″+ segment, and expects to pass 30% in Q4.
Large-size panel supply has been tight recently, Wang noted, but tablet panel demand has been rising. He predicted that 2015 would see increased competition between LTPS and a-Si panel makers.
