According to Digitimes, Innolux and Taiwan convenience store chain FamilyMart have opened their first jointly developed smart store, featuring digital signage boards, shelf-edge displays, self-checkouts and other smart solutions.
The store incorporates hardware and software from companies such as Dell, EIH, Microsoft and Novatek, the publication’s sources said. Innolux chairman Jim Hung says that the company plans to open 20 more FamilyMart smart stores by the end of 2018.
IoT networks, cameras and sensors also allow in-store devices to collect and analyse data, as well as enabling equipment checking to be done remotely, according to FamilyMart president, Hsueh Tung-tu.
The article goes on to say that Innolux VP James Yang revealed that the company is currently working with channel and e-commerce operators to promote its new 23.1″ digital shelf-edge label product.
