What They Say
Counterpoint Research published its data on the semiconductor market in Q4 2021 which showed Samsung well ahead of Intel with strong DRAM and NAND sales.
Major smartphone SoC and GPU vendors also enjoyed strong growth in the year with over 50% YoY revenue increase. In addition, we saw 27% YoY revenue growth among the top 15 vendors, outperforming global semiconductor revenue growth and implying another year of centralized semiconductor industry.
The company also showed data for foundry shares and smartphone APs – see graphic below.
What We Think
The TSMC share in foundries remains very impressive. Around a quarter of its business comes from making Apple’s chips. (BR)
