What They Say
The India Times reports that India is to follow the EU in standardising on USB Type-C for electronic devices including smartphones, notebooks and tablets and the regulation could be in place by 2024.
Separately, The Verge said, quoting Ming-Chi Kuo that only higher end iPhone 15 models will support faster data through USB Type-C with standard and Plus models capped at 480Mbps, the same speed as the Lightning connector. The Pro and Pro Max versions could support 20Gbps or 40Gbps.
What We Think
The Indian decision is no surprise. Few can ignore the EU market, so it’s a relatively painless way to look progressive and to appear to be looking out for consumers and the environment. (BR)
