Independent Speakers Form Aiptek’s Boombox Projector

Aiptek is now selling a portable DLP projector in Germany called the Flicks Dashbon, which is designed to be a ‘party powerhouse’. The small unit (166 x 299 x 135mm) features a carrying handle and two 10W speakers; these can be used when the display is off, through a Bluetooth connection; this gives the unit its other name: the boombox projector.

An RGB LED light source is installed, which will last up to 20,000 hours. As a portable model, the projector features a 13,000mAh Li-ion battery, which will last for up to four hours of video playback or 28 hours of music. It can also provide power to a connected phone or tablet.

Image resolution is 1280 x 800 and contrast ratio is 10,000:1. Brightness is fairly low, however, at 700 lumens, although this may be enough for home use. The projector can throw a 19″ – 120″ image from 0.5 – 3.1m and has a 1.2:1 throw ratio. A manual focus, automatic vertical keystone (+/-40°) and image flip capability for rear projection are built in.

An HDMI port is the only video interface, although a micro USB port is featured for service updates. The Flicks Dashbon (aka BK01DW45AW) weighs 2.9kg. It is on sale now, for €600 ex VAT.
