What They Say
A hat-tip to my good friend Alfred Poor for the heads-up on a new LED display, described as ‘holographic’, but of course, it’s not. The Dragon O display uses a kind of 3D set of 100 LED ‘strings’ that hang down to form a 3D space. Individual pixels can be addressed to create a volumetric shaped display or multiple layers in 2D. The system includes a motion tracker. The display has been in development for several years.
There is a gallery of applications here.
What We Think
The display looks interesting for LBE and entertainment as well as museums or other installations, although it’s not clear how robust it is for public use. (BR)
