IHS Releases Report on the Impact of Memory in iPhone BOM

IHSMarkit

Following the release of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, IHS Markit has created a report detailing the impact of memory on Apple’s bill-of-materials (BOM) cost when creating the iPhone.

The report explores the negative correlation between the rapid drop in the price of memory per gigabyte, and the ever-rising purchase price of the iPhone.

The article contains several infographics exploring the BOM journey of the iPhone from its inception in 2007, through each iteration, right up to the present day.

You can view the full report, The Strategic Role of Memory in the iPhone, on the IHS Markit blog.
