Huawei has announced that it aims to sell 100 million smartphones this year, raising its sales by more than 30%. The company sold 75 million smartphones last year, a 40% YoY rise
The company is targeting high-end ($300+) models and overseas markets to achieve the increase. Fueled by high-end unit sales (aiming to raise sales proportion from 18% to over 30%), Huawei expects that its consumer business unit’s revenue will reach $16 billion in 2015, up from $12 billion in 2014. Yu Chengdong, CEO of the unit, said, “We are giving up the low end of the market. Now we care more about profit and international brand awareness”.
