The Mediapad T1 8.0 is a new 8″ tablet from Huawei, apparently covering more than 90% of Adobe RGB. It has an IPS panel with 1280 x 800 resolution, 178 deg viewing angles and an 800:1 contrast ratio. Brightness is 300 cd/m².
Huawei is proud of the ‘floating video’ feature on its new device. Effectively, this is a windowed video on a tablet, which can be moved around the screen while a user works on something else.
A 1.2GHz quad-core processor runs Android 4.3. Combined with the large (4,800mAh) battery, the Mediapad reaches 13 hours of video time, 16 hours of internet browsing or 36 hours of 3G voice calls.
8GB of storage can be expanded with a 32GB SD card, and is supported by 1GB of RAM. Huawei is selling the tablet in Europe now, for €185 ex VAT.
