HTC has launched its U11 smartphone. It has a 5.5″ LCD screen (1440 x 2560 pixels) and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Based on a Snapdragon 835, it can have up to 6G of RAM and 128GB storage internationally, but only gets 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage in the USA. However, there is a MicroSD slot if you need more storage. It will capture 4K video. The use of a Snapdragon 835 means that it is faster than the Google Pixel, which uses a Snapdragon 821.
DxOMark Mobile gave the the camera (12MP rear and 16MP front) its highest ever DxOMarkMobile score of 90. Particular features of the camera are low noise and fast autofocus which helped the camera to beat the previous best, the Google Pixel.
The phone has a USB Type-C connector and it has been priced at $650.
Analyst Comment
HTC has lost a lot of momentum in the phone market, but given that most high end smartphones are very similar, the camera is often a way of pulling away from the crowd. It’s good to see HTC trying to get back by making an excellent product. (BR)
