HTC Announced a New Smartphone (!)

What They Say

HTC launched a new mid-range smartphone, the HTC Desire 22 Pro that is intended to be “the perfect companion with Vive Flow VR glasses”. It has a 6.6″ 1080 x 2412 (20:9) 120Hz LCD display. Inside there’s Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G, coupled with 8GB or RAM and 128GB of storage. The rear cameras are 64 MP, f/1.8, (wide), PDAF, 13 MP, f/2.4, 118? (ultrawide) and 5 MP, f/2.4, (depth) with 1080P30 video recording.

The phone can wirelessly mirror content to the headset (although other Android smartphones can do this as well).

It will cost €460

What We Think

I hadn’t realised that HTC, an early leading brand, was still in the smartphone market at all after it transferred staff and assets to Google in 2018. (HTC Finalises Smartphone Staff Transfer Deal with Google). I guess that the firm hopes that buyers of the headsets will feel more comfortable that the experience will be better, easier or more reliable using a number of products from the same brand. (BR)
