HP’s Business-Centric Monitor Game

HP has introduced the E45c G5, the largest model among its E-series G5 monitors. According to HP, the E45c G5 relies on a 44.5-inch VA panel that outputs at 400 nits with a 3,000:1 contrast ratio. Purportedly, the monitor should cover 99% of the sRGB colour space with 8-bit panel depth and 3 ms GtG response times while also delivering 178° vertical and horizontal viewing angles.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) showed off its E-Series G5 and M-Series IPS monitors at CES 2023 with less than fanfare than you would have expected but, HP isn’t that cool or consumer electronics-y either, and there were plenty of other curved monitors from PC vendors in Vegas that we have not even got to, yet.

The E-Series G5 line offers a range of sizes from 21.5 inches to 44.5 inches diagonal, with a variety of display resolutions from 1920×1080 to 4K. The eye-catcher is the E45c G5, a regulation curved monitor as the flagship product of the E-Series G5 line, boasting a 45 inch super ultra-wide dual QHD.

HP will probably market the E45c G5 curved monitor as a differentiator and highlight its unique selling point as a solution for multitasking and creative professionals even though I find the form factor to be hard to appreciate because of the real estate it takes up on the desk and you can’t do much with it then sit square in the middle unlike the flexibility of a multi-display setup. Meanwhile, HP sticks to more business-like ergonomic features on the M-Series monitors, focusing on the Comfort Setup Guide as a key selling point.
