HP Minimises Storage to Lower Cost

The HP Stream 7 and Stream 8 are new 7″ and 8″ tablet PCs with full cloud connectivity. While local storage is minimal (32GB, expandable with micro-SD), each has access to 1TB of Microsoft OneDrive and Office 365 Personal for a year

Lack of WiFi is no problem, says HP, as the Stream 8 is available with 200MB of 4G data every month, as an option. Both models receive 60 minutes of Skype calls every month.

Intel Atom processors (Z3735G) run Windows 8.1, with 1GB of RAM. Resolution is 1280 x 720. They will go on sale in November, for $100 and $150, respectively.

Like the Stream 11 and 13 notebooks (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 39), these tablets have a low price because their local storage is minimal. (TA)
