In an interview with Japan’s Nikkei newspaper, Hisense has said that it plans to release an 8k TV this year.
Hisense’s deputy general manager Cao Jianwei clearly states Hisense’s plan is to launch an 8k TV in 2015. He adds that the company is not worried about content, pointing out that UltraHD TVs are becoming more popular despite the lack of programming.
Analyst Comment
I would point out that FullHD content upscaled to UltraHD can look fine, but artefacts may begin to appear at 8k resolutions. (TA)
