What They Say
Toms Hardware has spotted an unusual dual 24″ ‘clamshell’ display unit that can be used with a desktop or notebook to provide more display real estate. The display was developed as a Kickstarter project and its initial $25K goal was reached in 36 minutes – it now has $1.6 million in backing. There are two variations on the display, one using FullHD displays and the other with QuadHD. They have 300 cd/m² and 250 cd/m² of output, respectively and the QuadHD model (Geminos X) is slightly closer to sRGB at 99% vs 97% and with a 75Hz refresh compared to 60 (Geminos). They are still available as ‘early bird’ options at $499 and $649.
If the Kickstarter project hits its ‘stretch’ goal, the display will be supplied with 10 point touch.
What We Think
Like the LG DualUp (, I would rate this configuration as too high for me. On the other hand, I quite like the combination of one display at an angle and one square as reducing the height. That could be ideal for some applications. Good to see plenty of innovative ideas in the monitor space. There’s a video highlighting the claimed advantages of the system here.(BR)
