High-End KVM Systems for Broadcast and Cinema Professionals

G&D North America Inc. (G&D) will be presenting the latest KVM technologies for broadcast and cinema professionals at this year’s HPA Tech Retreat from February 17 to 20, 2020 in Palm Springs, CA, and will be advising attendees on finding ideal KVM equipment fitting their inpidual requirements and applications while highlighting configuration and operation through our new HTML, web based tool, Config Panel 21. (NO JAVA Required!) G&D is a leader in Broadcast and Cinema KVM systems, worldwide.

As the only manufacturer of both fully IP based KVM matrix systems and “closed network” classical KVM systems, G&D is capable of providing versatility in both initial KVM system design or future upgrade designs for existing systems. Our technology and matrix solutions support up to 4K60 workflows with extender only solutions up to 8K60 resolutions. G&D KVM matrix systems ensure flexible, distributed remote operation of multiple computers via several distributed workstations. Additionally, G&D manufactures a complete line of extenders, desktop switches and accessories for even the most demanding and difficult applications. At the HPA, the KVM experts will present both their current equipment for KVM-over-IP™ as well as classic KVM systems, which offer their very own advantages and efficiency benefits.

ControlCenter-IP – extending and switching real 4K over IP

he ControlCenter-IP, G&D’s matrix for KVM-over-IP, provides fascinating new ways for switching between all connected computer and console modules, thus tremendously extending the ease of use and flexibility. This way, operators can benefit from the full performance of their computers even when operating them remotely, yet in real time. A conventional network infrastructure takes over the transport of KVM-over-IP™ using network switches and routers. Transmission takes place compressed via CAT cabling or optical fibers via standard IP-based networks on layer 3, with a data transmission rate of up to 1 Gbit/s per line. Existing infrastructures can be shared depending on application parameters. Therefore existing IT infrastructures can be scaled more easily, quickly and cost-effectively. G&D’s matrix systems use the in-house HDIP compression technology in the latest development stage, Level 3, which allows the loss-less transmission of video signals with a resolution of 4K at 60Hz. Thanks to the absolutely reliable video quality of the transmission, computers can be operated with zero latency.

Classic KVM – high performance in compact or modular design

Essentially, G&D’s classic systems use dedicated cabling. Thus, especially powerful applications as required in broadcasting can benefit from using the full bandwidth exclusively and therefore guarantee absolutely reliable transmission. G&D’s classic portfolio includes a wide range of compact and modular systems, which are available in expansion stages from 8 to 288 ports, depending on requirements. The systems are available in CAT, fiber and mixed versions. All systems support the lossless transmission of video signals with a resolution of up to 4K at 60 Hz.

New configuration tool Config Panel 21

All G&D systems come with the brand-new configuration tool Config Panel 21 – a completely Java-free tool, which is now even more intuitive, clearly-arranged and easier to use. The tool includes many helpful features such as setup and update wizards for complex installations, thus making configuring KVM devices even easier and significantly reduces installation time. And yet the new Config Panel 21 contains everything users already know and expect. It is therefore not fundamentally different, but better, more dynamic and more flexible.

Visitors can look forward to this and many more highlights on G&D’s booth at HPA Tech Retreat 2020. As the only manufacturer to offer classic as well as completely IP-based KVM systems for 4K@60Hz, the KVM experts will be glad to show visitors the best possible solution for their inpidual application.
