What They Say
Congratulations to Hannstar that actually got to a profit in Q2 of $630K although revenues were down by 9% from Q1 at $150 million with a gross margin of 11%. Second-quarter shipments increased 1.1% on quarter to reach 4.076 million 19-inch equivalent panels, with the ASP at $38 said Digitimes.
The company expects its panel shipments for handset and tablet applications to rebound in the second half of 2022 and will account for 60% of its total sales for the year.
What We Think
Hannstar should not be alive, let alone profitable, but the company has done an amazing job of squeezing everything it can out of its fabs by switching track many times over the last 17 years or so. Chapeau! (BR)
