Sweden’s Handheld Group has developed a rugged device combining the qualities of a scanner, a camera and a mobile phone. The Nautiz X2 is designed to act as a mobile computer for professional users. It is IP65-certified and meets the MIL-STD-810G test standards.
A 1.3GHz quad-core processor runs Android 5.1, and is paired with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. The 4.7″ display uses an IPS panel and has 1280 x 720 resolution; it is protected by Gorilla Glass.
A 1D laser scanner or 1D/2D imager is built in, with three dedicated scan buttons. The camera is an 8MP unit on the rear of the device; there is no front camera.
Handheld Group installed a 3,300mAh battery and micro-USB connector in the phone, as well as 4G connectivity. The Nautiz X2 can be ordered now, and mass production is expected to begin this month.
