Google is to ‘kill off’ the Chrome OS, according to the Wall Street Journal – sort of. Actually, Chrome will be folded into Android. The new combined OS will be revealed in 2017, but an early version is expected to be shown next year, according to sources. The move is a recognition of the fact that the split between the different approaches the two systems embody is no longer relevant to Google. Chromebooks will be renamed after the move, although the new title has not been decided yet.
