Google Updates Android 11 for low-latency codecs, variable refresh, new media controls & ‘Display Cutout’ support

Google has released Android 11. There are a lot of changes, detailed in the linked article. For displays, changes include quicker connections to TVs, support for ‘hole-punch’ and ‘waterfall’ displays. There is an improvement in low latency video for streaming and other video-related services. Other features include improved 5G support.

What We Think

I used to be famous for once sending a 3 page fax to my parent factory that said “Software Sells Hardware”, one word on each page! That was more than 30 years ago, and it remains true today. It’s not enough to have great hardware, it has to be supported by operating systems and applications. (BR)
