Google Smart Lens Kicks Off DAC 2015

Google Smart_LensClick to enlargeGoogle’s glucose-monitoring contact lens was a prototype a year ago (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 4), but was presented as a named product at the opening of the Design Automation Conference this month. Now known as the Google Smart Lens, it is a non-invasive smart glucose monitor in a disposable contact lens. RFID is uses to communicate between the SoC and a reader, with a micro battery providing power for a full day’s use. Only 3% of the lens is taken up by the electronics.
