Google has started rolling out Ultra HD movies to its UK Play Store.
Google Play Movies in the US and Canada has featured content in Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) since December last year. So far, only UHD resolution is available in the UK—not HDR.
Consumers will need a compatible device such as a Chromecast Ultra or Nvidia Shield to play Ultra HD content from Google Play Movies. The Google Play apps available for Smart TVs and Roku streaming devices do not currently support Ultra HD.
The company also recommends a consistent download speed of at least 15 megabits-per-second for Ultra HD streaming.
