A new patent, filed by Google, has hinted at what the next iteration of Google Glass might look like. Rather than the inflexible form factor of the original, patent 9,195,067 B1 shows a headband-type product that wraps around part of the rear of the wearer’s head.
The display is still located above a user’s eye. The HUD can be repositioned to fit the wearer’s field of view; use of a prism would send video to both eyes.
Google submitted the patent in September 2012, shortly after Google Glass was announced, so the design has likely changed since that point. However, the filing does give an indication as to where the wearable might go in the future.
