A patent awarded to Google has the potential to turn walls into screens. The patent outlines a projection system that can display images on a wall covered with photo-reactive paint. A beam of light from a projector would react with the paint to change the scene displayed – and, like E Ink, the image would stay there until a new one was projected. According to the patent, the refresh rate would be fast enough to support video. Of course, being a patent there is no guarantee that this will ever become a product.
