Samsung may be the number one TV brand for seventeen years running, but it’s China’s HiSense and TCL who are the real winners.
It seems like HiSense was a little irked about Samsung’s PR splash yesterday basically saying, Sure, Samsung is still the leading seller of TVs worldwide but, it went down in sales, but look at us, HiSense, number two, and how. None of the top ten came close to matching HiSense’s leap. Skyworth was the only other company showing some growth but not much. Although you need to give a special mention to TCL for hurdling over LG and coming in third.
None of this takes into consideration actual profits because Samsung and LG are probably going to keep healthier margins than their competitors by virtue of having a greater share of the premium TV market. However, when it comes to mass market conditions, it’s all going to go the way of the Chinese brands; at the risk of repeating myself, which doesn’t seem to be something that I can stop doing, prices are going to be on fire at every sale event during 2023. I don’t think even the US government is going to ban Chinese TVs on grounds of national security.
