Digitimes Research said that it is forecasting a slight decline in the tablet business over the next four years, but will grow 1.2% next year. The researcher believes that tablet makers will push more towards the creator market to try to boost the market.
What We Think
The stability of the market is no real surprise. Tablets seem to have a longish working life and there hasn’t been the kind of innovation that we have seen in smartphones and there are only limited opportunities for form factor innovation. If people took tablets away from their homes or office there might be more opportunity. Foldable and rollable smartphones with their larger screens will eat into the market. Creators may be more willing to invest in better calibrated and performing displays, whether based on miniLED or OLED. (BR)
