Worldwide LED demand is expected to show mild growth in the second half of 2017, according to Everlight Electronics chairman Robert Yeh, as reported by Digitimes. He went on to say that 2018 would see stability.
Everlight will turn down orders for LED lighting and backlighting where the margin is too low, so he expects their share of turnover to fall below 50% this year, with automotive and plant-growing lighting, fine pixel pitch displays and infrared and ultraviolet LED products becoming more significant. Due to expectations that electric vehicles will use more LED lighting, the company is dedicating its new factory in central Taiwan to automotive products.
