Trendforce put out a forecast for revenues from the LED industry, which the firm expects to grow by 3.8% to $15.7 billion in 2021. The firm said that LED backlighting had seen “remarkable performances across the board this year.”
MiniLED market value is expected to grow to $131 million in 2021, a 900% growth level. On the other hand, the cutback in live entertainment led to a drop of 9.3% in value in that application in 2020. Automotive LEDs also declined but are expected to recover to $2.6 billion in 2021.
What We Think
I don’t keep a close eye on the LED device market and was suprised to see such a drop in market value this year. However, there have been good reasons for this in this bizarre year. There is a lot of interest in miniLED, although it will only be $131 million this year. (BR)
