The MG278Q is a 27″ LCD monitor for gamers, produced by Asus. As well as a fast (1ms) response time and refresh rate (144Hz), the display uses AMD’s Freesync anti-tearing technology.
To care for users during extended use, the MG278Q features a low blue light mode and flicker-free backlight. The monitor is capable of 120° swivel, -5° – 20° tilt, 90° pivot and 0 – 150mm height adjustment.
Asus’ ‘GamePlus’ and ‘GameVisual’ modes are designed for gamers (obviously – TA). The former places several graphics on-screen, including four different crosshairs, a timer and an FPS counter; the latter feature provides six different display modes (FPS, RTS/RPG, Racing, Cinema, Scenery and sRGB).
The monitor uses a TN panel, with 2560 x 1440 resolution, 170°/160° viewing angles and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Brightness is 350 cd/m², and the display covers 75% of the NTSC colour gamut. DisplayPort, HDMI (x2) and dual-link DVI-D ports are featured, as well as two 2W speakers.
Asus is selling the display now, for £375 ($590) ex VAT.
