What They Say
A leaked image of the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra that appears to have a slot for an S-Pan and curved edges like the Samsung Note series. To accommodate the pen, the phone is a little thicker and that means that there is no need for a ‘camera hump’. The devices is expected to be launched in February 2022.
What We Think
If the S22 does inherit the S-Pen, it would effectively replace the Note line which was not updated this summer and seemed to have been dropped.
I have a Note 9 and occasionally use the S-Pen. The finger, after all, is a useless stylus. If it wasn’t built in, I would never use it. Thinking about my smartphone makes me realised that I have had the Note 9 for more than three years, now and am still very happy with it. I think that’s the first phone I have had for that length of time. Usually, by the end of a couple of years I have wanted a new one.
I bought it without a contract as I wanted the dual-Sim version so that I could have a US SIM for business trips there and dual-SIM versions are not available with contracts in the UK, as far as I am aware. Sadly, for the last year and a half, the dual-Sim function has been redundant!
Of course, my smartphone really becomes critical to me when I’m travelling and if I was still travelling a lot, I might be tempted to get an upgrade with 5G. Maybe I’ll take a look a the the S22? (BR)
