Fujitsu & Lenovo Close to Deal on PCs

Fujitsu and Lenovo are reported to be continuing with discussions about a combination of their PC businesses, but have slowed down the process, although some believe it may still happen in April. At one point, the deal had been expected to be finalised by the end of March, according to the Nikkei, which said that Lenovo would take a controlling stake in Fujitsu’s PC business and maintain the workforce and factories.

On the display side, Lenovo is focused on entry level and basic models, while Fujitsu, whose display group is based in Augsburg, Germany, has developed a value added range that appeals to its core German corporate base. Each side would probably gain from the other at the display level. (BR)
