Freeview Play TVs and set-top boxes sales have now exceeded one million units in the UK. Freeview Play was launched in late 2015, and brings a combination of live, catch-up and on demand content to consumers without a subscription charge.
Of the smart HDTVs sold in the UK, Freeview Play TVs now account for 34% of the total. Freeview is supported by over 20 leading brands, including Blaupunkt, Goodmans, Hitachi, JVC, LG, and Panasonic.
The 2017 specification of Freeview Play now includes optional support for Ultra HD (4K) and HDR content for programmes delivered via broadband.
