Freenet, which took over Germany’s Media Broadcast in March, will launch several channels on the DVB-T2 platform this month. Initially RTL, ProSieben, Sat.1 and VOX will be broadcast as a package (at 1920 x 1080/50fps) in several urban areas. Public channels Das Erste HD and ZDF HD will also be part of the offering. The commercial channels will be encrypted. Receivers, branded with the Freenet logo, will be available in mid-May. CI+ modules, which allow T2 reception on existing sets with the right decoders, will be launched at the end of May.
