Flexible OLED Shipments to Drop 35% from Q1

What They Say

The Elec has reported data from Omdia that forecasts that shipments of flexible OLED panels will be around 57 million units in Q2, 35% down from Q1. The reduction is a combination of seasonal effects and a further reduction in shipments for the iPhone 12. However, the number is up 54.1% on Q2 2020. Flexible displays will be ahead of rigid OLED shipments at 53 million units.

The report said that

  • Samsung should ship 39.1 million units in Q2, down 42.8%, but up 61.6% Yoy
  • LG Display is at 10.6 million, down 41.1% QoQ and up 55.9% YoY
  • BOE should ship 7.9 million up 5.3% QoQ but down 31.9% down from a year ago.
  • Omdia expects CSOT, Visionox and Tianma to ship 3.1 million, 2.1 million, and 1.4 million units in Q2
  • CSOT is up 93.8% QoQ because of shipments to Xiaomi
  • Samsung Electronics has seen a drop in the Galaxy S series, which uses flexible displays

For 2020 overall, the top suppliers of flexible OLEDs were Samsung at 205.8 million, LG at 57.77 million and BOE at 35.6 million
