Samsung’s 1.5mm LED product has now been installed in the UK for the first time by Viju, a visual communications specialist, for Land Securities, the largest commercial landlord in the UK. The 2.8m x 1.6mm wall shows a FullHD image in an atrium area. The fine pitch was chosen as viewers are often very close to the display and LED was the choice over other technologies as the client wanted a seamless image.
Samsung distributor, PSCo, now part of Midwich, worked as the technical specialist for Viju and specified a custom frame for the installation and has backed up the installation with an enhanced three year warranty with a bespoke service level agreement.
Kulveer Rupra, the Account Director at Viju working on the project, said: “Land Securities commitment to delivering a show stopping display was evident when they accompanied Viju to ISE 2016 for a vigorous evaluation of LED technologies across the industry. The Samsung wall came out on top by some way and this was affirmed when an in-project challenge forced us to reduce the size of the wall from 2.5mm (4.7m wide) to 1.5mm (2.8m wide) late in the day without compromising the original goal for optimum quality.”

This project shows the time scales often involved in this kind of LED project. It’s more than a year since was the LED supplier was chosen and Samsung has been working hard on its fine pitch LED business for some time. It also highlights the degree of customisation that is often required. (BR)
