Final Pixel claims new era for film-making

What They Say

When we reported on the latest version of the Sony Crystal LED (Sony Upgrades (and Downgrades) its Crystal LED), the firm told us that a significant market for the firm was now virtual sets for content creation. Now we have seen a report in RapidTVNews that explains that a new company, Final Pixel, has been launched that will specialise in productions combining LED virtual sets with game engine technology. The company will be led by a former BBC Studios and Endemol Shine executive.

The company claims it has a production pipeline that allows virtual production without needing a Hollywood budget. It also said that its staff have “created hundreds of VFX-based commercials in our time”, although it is not a VFX house.

What We Think

As can be seen from the list of studios identified by Epic Games, which promotes its Unreal Engine for virtual production, the technology is well established in the content creation business. The presence of LED controller maker, Brompton Technologies underlines the depth of this kind of development. (BR)
