FBI Breaks iPhone Encryption

The FBI has cracked the encryption on the iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists last December, without assistance from Apple (Apple Refuses to Compromise Security). An unnamed third party – said to be Israeli firm Cellebrite – helped the FBI with the phone.

Analyst Comment

Now that the FBI knows about the security flaw that it exploited, you can bet that Apple does too, and will work to fix it. The FBI may have won this battle, but the fight is far from over. (TA)
