Everlight is a packager of LEDs and had a number of areas covering automotive, lighting and infrared applications. There was also an area devoted to displays but, sadly, with nobody with expertise in the area when we visited. The company had a Unilumin display on the front of its booth that was being used for talks about its latest products.
On show were 0606 and 0505 LEDs for use in display pitches from 0.8mm to 1.2mm or 0.7mm to 1.0mm respectively and the 18-035, which is on a 0.55 x 0.55 mm package for 0.7mm pitch is claimed to be the world’s smallest three-in-one package (although, surely that would go to the devices in the Sony Cledis? Man. Ed) The company told us that the RGB LED chips that make up the package are aligned centrally and on a single axis to offer better performance.
The company was also showing its Hong Series of LEDs for outdoor display applications. Again, the package for the HNB195, at 1.9 x 2.1 x 1.85mm is claimed to be the smallest package for outdoor use and can be used for displays from 3mm to 6mm pitch. Larger HNB272 (5mm – 8mm) and HNB353 (6mm-10mm) are also available. All of the Hong series is claimed to have high contrast, strong anti-reflective properties and be highly waterproof while being resistant to damage from UV. They are also claimed to have a wide viewing angle.
