European Monitor Market Was Strong in Q1

The European Desktop Monitor market saw a very good result in Q1 2018 with both volumes and values up by 6.1%.

At the top of the market, Dell had another good quarter, increasing its lead over HP, while LG edged past Samsung into third place. However, if AOC and Philips were combined (they are both managed by MMD) they would be in first place.

Some countries in each region did well, and Central Europe saw its best result in Q1 since 2011. Benelux had very strong growth and the MEA region seems to be seeing some growth, finally.

The 27″/28″ UltraHD segment saw some strong results with LG doing particularly well.

Analyst Comment

It’s been a while since we saw such a good Q1. The reality of the monitor market is that, these days, in most of the region, it is a replacement market, so things should be relatively stable going forward, with macroeconomic factors being the most important factors. (BR)
