EU Airports Saw Record Number of Passengers in 2016

As more and more airports are employing the services of visual design firms to implement modern Digital-Out-of-Home advertising makeovers, Eurostat has released new figures revealing the top 10 busiest airports in Europe.

In the number one spot is London Heathrow, which welcomed 75.7 million travellers in 2016. Paris Charles de Gaulle followed with 65.9 million, with Amsterdam Schipol in third place with 63.6 million.

Meanwhile, Spain takes three spots on the list; Madrid Barajas was the country’s busiest airport last year, with 49.2 million commuters passing through. Barcelona El Prat saw 43.8 million passengers, and Palma de Mallorca had 26.2 million.

In total, European airports saw a record high 972.7 million passengers last year. That’s a lot of potential viewed impressions for any DOOH advertising firm looking for its next project.
